Project Management

published on 01/09/08
Project Management is the integration of the outputs from other functions, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver attainable project goals. It is a vital capability for BAE Systems.
The Company’s success is predicated by the basic requirement to deliver to its customers those products, services and capabilities they specify and expect, to time and budget.

Capability through People and Process
Within the Defence Sector the trend is toward customers demanding greater capability at more affordable cost. This drives up the complexity and required inter-operability of defence systems, and increases the emphasis on upgradeability and serviceability of products, hence necessitating a whole life-cycle approach to projects.
To ensure that BAE Systems possesses the capability to execute its projects and programmes successfully, the Company has developed a world class set of Project Management processes that support the delivery of repeatable and predictable project outcomes.
These processes are so important that the core set, Lifecycle Management, are mandated throughout BAE Systems. However, process alone is not enough; we require people with the knowledge, skills and experience to successfully tailor and apply processes in the diverse range of project of project environments that exist across the business.
Through the Project Management Developing You programme of assessments and development programmes the Project Management function is working to ensure that Project Managers within BAE Systems have the professional and personal skills to achieve their potential.
