Simply Cartons, the Nottingham carton producer, has purchased two Heidelberg Diana Pro folder/gluers to improve the productivity of its gluing operation.
The firm, which generated a turnover of £12m last year, specialises in cartons for the food, cosmetics, confectionery, pharmaceutical and spirits industries. It chose the Heidelberg kit after 'rigorous' trials with numerous manufacturers.
The first machine arrived at the firm's premises at Perry Road, Nottingham today (3 November), while the second machine will be delivered in the middle of next year.The machine was efficiently fitted by skilled mechanical contract engineers with little shut down needed.
Simply Cartons managing director Craig Mather said: 'The Diana Pro came out on top with regards to its engineering quality, efficiency and productivity and being able to control the whole machine through one interface is a huge advantage.'
Both machines will be equipped with Leary glue line systems with quality control, including glue line detection and bar code reading. They will operate over three shifts, five days a week. The machines are easily accessible by skilled mechanical personnel for proactive or reactive maintenance who have a vast experience of several maintenance programmes.
Mather added that the Diana Pros would 'hugely reduce' makeready times on new jobs and efficiencies would be increased further when the memory function is used on repeat jobs.
'The market continues to require us to reduce run lengths and improve response times. We need to have incredible flexibility in order to service our customer needs and this is offered by the Diana Pros,' he said
