CCL invests £3m in Castleford plant

CCL Label is to install two Nilpeter presses at its Castleford plant as part of a £3m investment in new equipment at the site. All the equipment will be installed by contract engineers .
The American firm has invested more than £10m in the past two years and has said 'further major expenditure' is planned for the next 18 months. More machinery is expected to be installed using skilled mechanical contract engineers.
The two Nilpeter MO4 presses in Castleford will be the plant's first servo-driven presses, and bring the plant in line with the rest of the company, enabling a 'localised service for global brands'.
Artwork can be finalised at one location before being transferred to other sites for production.
The expansion at CCL Label Ashford is almost complete – manufacturing and warehouse facilities have been increased by 70% – and the firm is planning to install two sheet fed litho presses, a digital press and new quality inspection equipment. The outsourced contract engineersare also able to carry our proactive or reactive maintenance with little or no downtime required.
CCL Label is also planning to rebuild its Kings Lynn facility.
Dale Hambilton, managing director at CCL Label (UK), said the continued investment underlined the firm's commitment to the UK market.
'It also ensures we are ideally placed to play a pivotal role in the support of multinational customers and global brands,' he said.
