Glowcroft, the Suffolk-based contract engineers, has returned to its premises only 10 months after a fire devastated the building. A team of skilled contract mechanical engineers installed all the new packaging machinery for the factory relocation.
The company moved back into the newly rebuilt Needham Market facility this week, from its temporary premises in Snetterton, Norfolk, where it has been operating from since the fire.
Glowcroft has invested £1m in new equipment, which the contract engineers installed, includes bottle filling machines, vertical form fill and seal machines, flow wrapping machines and more.
The machines that weren't damaged by the fire have also been cleaned and reconditioned and installed by contract engineers, who also provide the proactive and reactive maintenance.
Managing director Steve Tarrant said it had been a challenging year for the company and the staff and the contract engineering team who have endured the changes and 'a much longer journey to work'.
'Being back before Christmas means that we will be back to our most efficient levels of production in time for our busy period of production in the New Year,' he said.
Fourteen fire crews were called to Glowcroft's factory on the Lion Barn Industrial Estate in Needham Market on the night of 21 February.
The fire seriously damaged stock and machinery and within two weeks the firm had found temporary premises in Snetterton, and all 35 members of staff and salvageable machinery were relocated there. Glowcroft appointed a team of skilled mecanical contract engineers to install the machinery at its temporary premises.
Glowcroft offers all packaging services, from brand design from its in house design team to printing, packing and distribution and operates in the horticultural, pet foods, bird foods and fishing bait markets.
