Mondi Corrugated Packaging, part of the Mondi Group, has invested EUR8m (£6.8m) in new kit for its corrugated plant in Izmit, Turkey.
The investment has funded the purchase of a new BHS Corrugator High-Speed machine which can produce up to 400 linear metres of corrugated board per minute. The machine is installed by a team of contract engineers.
The machine is fully-automated, including a temperature control system. It is easy to service and maintain, all maintenance is carried out by the contract engineer team.
The company said the kit will increase the plant's production capacity but declined to say by how much.
Thomas Ott, chief executive of recycled containerboard and corrugated packaging, said: 'This investment allows us to proactively meet the ever changing needs of our customers and strengthen the packaging business in Turkey, and the machine takes no time at all to install due to the knowledge of the contract engineers who are responsible for installing it'
The Izmit plant employs 237 people and is ISO 9001 certified.
