Contract Engineers install new kit

published on 25/02/09
Injection moulder McLaren Plastics has invested in two new Arburg Golden Edition machines as part of its long-term replacement programme. And has outsourced a team of contract engineers to sucessfully install them.
The machines, which will be based at its Midlothian facility, will be used to manufacture closures for the drinks and general packaging sectors. The new machines will be regularly serviced and maintained by the skilled contract engineers who will be on site as and when required.
The company was able to secure funding support for the project from the Carbon Trust.
Neil McLaren, joint managing director said 'We are very conscious of the need to work towards the efficient use of energy and to reduce out carbon output, and also by outsourcing some of our engineering team we are reducing our overheads but are still confident that our machines are in the best possible hands when it comes to the maintenance as the outsourced contract engineers have many proven years of experience at their hands'
The company has bought six new Arburg machines in the past three years and expects to add more new machines in 2009, which will all be installed by the mechanical contract engineers.
