published on 27/02/09 MY Healthcare's £3m expansion to its Newmarket leaflet printing facility has taken a key step with the installation of a large format reel-to-reel printer to replace its sheetfed presses. The whole process including the removal of the old machines and the installation of the new printer was carried out by a local team of contract engineers.
The new Drent Goebel machine has one four-colour and one two-colour printing tower and runs at a speed of 300 metres per minute, with off-line make-ready for faster production. The contract engineers carry out both pro-active and re-active maintenance in accordance with the companies wishes, a spokesman for the firm said ‘bringing in the team of contract engineers is an excellent move in this climate, using the contact engineers not only saves money as we only use the contract engineer team as and when but we are comfortable in the knowledge that all the contract engineers on the site are up to date with skills and qualifications’.
Tom Reid, managing director of Nampak Europe, said the investment showed the firm's 'commitment to our Newmarket site, the marketplace and meeting changing customer needs'. MY Healthcare Newmarket opened in 1998 and employs 70 staff.
MY Healthcare produces a range of pharmeutical packaging products, including folding cartons, self-adhesive labels and printer foils for blister packs. It is part of South African packaging group Nampak.
