The contract engineers always inspects the equipment prior to beginning a production run, usually with the contract engineer present.
If the equipment is new, the manual should always be read before operating the machine., and if the customer is unsure about any aspect then they contract engineer with their knowledge and experience are always happy to clarify also the operator should have a checklist available if possible and be familiar with the operating instructions supplied.
Spares should always be carried for unforeseen problems which the contract engineers will sort out, however some pro active maintenance is usually carried out by the contract engineers, which usually results in the problem being rectified before it happens.
Many companies have a maintenance plan for the contract engineers which can include routine inspection, testing and performance trials and cost analysis which overall saves time and money.
