published on 22/05/09 By using a team of contract engineers, Image Evolution has added personalised cartons to its services after the mechanical engineers installed a digital press from Hewlett-Packard (HP) capable of dealing with heavier substrates.
The Berkshire-based digital print firm has installed thick substrate mode kit from HP to its HP Indigo 5500 press so it can run packaging substrates. The contract engineers installed it with a minimum of fuss and with no disruption to the factory.
The kit also means that Image Evolution can print graphics and unique codes in one pass, even in large volumes.
So far, the kit has been used to manufacture marketing materials, such as personalised chocolate boxes, but the company plans to target the medical packaging market. The engineers are also on hand to provide any pro active or re active maintenance as required.
'With one pass of the sheet we can print a normal four-colour job with personalised information,' explained sales director Gary Mitchell.
