Contract Engineers Install last 2 Lines

published on 01/05/09
Production has started on Linpac's two new rPET sheet extrusion lines at its Featherstone facility, after the installation of the lines by a team of mechanical engineers outsourced from a local firm. This follows a £3m investment to double capacity at the site.
The facility will now be able to manufacture 400 million Rfresh trays a year, which meet FDA food contact safety standards, on its four production lines. The production lines, the first two of which were installed in early 2008 were all installed by the same engineering crew who are also responsible for the pro active and re active maintenance of the lines and machinery.
Linpac uses 100% post-consumer waste (PCR) flake on all four lines
'Several other suppliers of recycled plastic content for the food industry rely on the flake manufacturers to filter out any chemicals that shouldn't be present in the recyclate,' said Linpac Packaging's director of innovation Alan Davey.
Demand for the Rfresh range is 15% more than expected, according to Linpac's vice president and general manager of the protein sector Pierre Thumerel.
