published on 11/05/09 Whisky distiller Chivas Brothers has ordered traceability equipment for all 16 of its production lines at its facility in Kilmalid, Dumbartonshire which will be installed by a team of contract mechanical engineers who carry specialist skills and experience in this area.
The distiller has ordered 16 case labellers and six pallet labellers so the company can identify and trace pallets and cases throughout the supply chain.
Chivas Brothers have made the investment in response to growing international trade.
The contract engineers will install the 515 case labellers onto 16 production lines at the Kilmalid plant, the same team of mechanical contract engineers are also responsible for the reactive and proactive maintenance of the production lines. These will run at speeds of 50 cases per minute and produce EAN 128 labels with works order number, lot code and a sequential number.
Chivas Brothers will store the information via a central system for future reference
