PPMA Show attracts first-time exhibitors

The PPMA Show 2009 is set to include at least 23 first-time exhibitors, after the organisers revealed 80% of floor space has already been booked.
Overseas firms such as German-owned Wenglor Sensoric are using the show as an opportunity to showcase their products to the UK market.
The sensor and scanner manufacturer previously felt it 'didn't necessarily have the right products to exhibit in the UK', but has just launched a new range of photo-electric sensors.
'As the foremost UK exhibition, we see the PPMA show as a vital aid to help us reach potential customers,' said Wenglor's James Mayo.
Vacuum packaging machinery firm VC999 has also joined the PPMA and is looking to 'take an active role by exhibiting our products', according to sales manager Martin Howells.
'We feel sure that the draw of the PPMA name will deliver the best possible audience,' he added.
Mark Bishop, director of Interfood Technology, which is also set to exhibit for the first time, said that the company was planning to showcase a new plastic clip system.
He said: 'We recognise that the PPMA Show has an audience beyond the food industry so we will be able to highlight the capability to emply the clip in other processing and packaging applications.'
The PPMA Show runs from 29 September to 1 October at the NEC in Birmingham. For more information,
