published on 02/06/09 Contract engineers worked with the company Boxes LPF to upgrade equipment at its Dutch factory in a bid to produce barrier cartons with no defects.
The company has re-engineered its Hermetet machine so it can glue transparent film to the carton in a single production run.
SPD sales and marketing director Chris Hill said the current market situation meant it was 'vital to operate as efficiently as possible and little changes like this and also using contract engineers as they are on an a hoc basis can make all the difference'.
'By combining carton manufacture with gluing capabilities in one single run, we are doing just that,' he said.
'By investing in our equipment and technology, we have been able to take a familiar, tried-and-tested process to the next level to ensure that the products we produce remain at the forefront of innovation,' said Hill. The contract engineers are also used on the site for the pro active and re active maintenance for the machinery.
