Contract Engineers have been installing new and re located machinery for contract packer Mailway after they entered into a strategic partnership with storage and distribution specialist Lenham Storage in Maidstone.
The Maidstone site, to be known as Mailway Southern, will initially provide UK contract packing, storage and distribution work for a major confectionery company.
The site will then be expanded to offer contract packing to customers in the food, confectionery, cosmetics and health and beauty-care markets with the team of local contract engineers overseeing the maintenance on all the packaging machines and lines within the factory.
Lenham Storage has invested in a purpose-built production area that is temperature controlled and suitable for packing chocolate in preparation for the new contract.

Lenham Storage managing director Keith Abrehart said: 'Mailway Southern has the potential to be a huge success, especially when you consider the significant reduction in food miles and subsequent environmental credibility it will bring to companies opting to use our one-stop contract packing, storage and distribution solution and we are showing how to reduce even more overheads by outsourcing our engineering team too.'
