Contract Engineers To Install New Press

published on 22/07/09
Carton printer Benson Group has said it will continue to examine options for acquisitions after adding a second Heidelberg press at its Leicestershire plant which will be installed by a team of mechanical engineers from a local outsourcing company.
It is being installed at the company's flagship Bardon facility in Leicestershire, which has output of more than 750m cartons every year for the food sector. The machine will be installed with minimum disruption to the factory and the company knows that the installation is in safe hands with the contract engineering team that they are using having over twenty years experience in the installation of the presses among other things.
Benson Group managing director Mark Kerridge said: 'Two years ago we bought the XL105 because we wanted to look at new technology and use it in anger. It has proved very successful' he added “ as everyone is looking to reduce overheads to the other option we have decided to run with is too outsource our mechanical engineering team for this installation to see how it goes and hopefully hey will be back to install the next one”
Kerridge said: 'We have invested significantly over the past seven years and have grown organically and by acquisition. We will continue to look at more options in future.'
He added that demand for cartons was 'relatively good' at present, thanks to the trend for less meals being eaten in restaurants, but that there was a move away from luxury products to standard and economy ranges.
The mechanical engineers will also oversee the maintenance needs of the printer as and when required.
