published on 03/08/09 As situations come to an end contract engineers have been busy installing a press at a packaging facility in Crewe as Benson Group has this month revealed plans to offer pharmaceutical labels from its Medica facility .The group enlisted the help of the team of mechanical contract engineers to install a Gallus label press at its Medica Packaging facility in Crewe, in a move which Benson Group managing director Mark Kerridge said would give the site a strong opportunity.
Installation of the seven-colour press will allow Medica to sell pharmaceutical customers the three outer packaging components they require – cartons, leaflets and labels – from a single site. The installation was done with minimum disruption to the factory and the firm are very pleased with the result and praised the efforts of the engineering team.
Alongside the press, Medica has also bought a ScanTech VisionTrack rewind and inspection machine, which checks barcodes and consecutively numbers each label in one pass. The contract engineers will be on hand to carry out any need maintenance for the machines.
Meanwhile, production at the Cameron Linn food packaging plant in Glasgow ceased on 16 January, after work was transferred to other Benson Group sites.
