published on 06/08/09 A team of contract engineers have worked extremally hard and to schedule to enable Nestle to open their new factory which is run by a contract packer. Nestle marked the consolidation of its packaging supply chain in the UK last week with the official opening of a new co-packing factory at its distribution centre in York.
The new facility, opened on Friday by Hugh Bayley MP, will be run by contract packaging provider IPS First, which will pack goods across the Nestle product range.
It will be responsible for handling between 200 and 400 product lines, including confectionery, but extending to other Nestle food and beverage products. The team of shilled mecahnical contract engineers installed the nre machinery and lines with minimum disruption to the other factory and quickly and efficiently.
Nestle spokesperson Liz Hayes said the new plant, which began production last month with 100 workers, is highly flexible so can, for example, adjust quickly and efficiently from chocolate bars to coffee. She added that due to the success and the outstanding results of the team of engineers that were brought in from alocal outsourcing provider that she would not hesitate to recommend companied looking towards the poutsourcing of their engineering section, if it permits it to save on overheads. Located in a redundant stores building at the Nestle distribution centre in York, the new factory will help the food company cut its transportation costs.
