published on 02/09/09 A well known bread maker has begun to invest £45m in a new bakery, a team of mechanical contract engineers have been enlisted from a local engineering outsourve provider to begin the installation of a complete bread making and packaging line, on the outskirts of Bristol
The new 'super-bakery', to be built in phases on a 12-acre site at the Western Approach Distribution Park at Severn Beach.
State-of-the-art machinery is being installed by the team of highly skilled mechanical engineering team which will include a climate-controlled mixing room, allowing the family-owned firm to produce 1.5 million products a week. The engineers are also responsible for the pro active and re active maintenance of the production lines as requested by the company.
The bakery will produce bread for supermarkets, convenience stores and other retail outlets across the South West.
The family firm, established in Bolton, Lancashire in 1876, employs more than 4,800 people.
