Conveyor Systems (CSL) has designed a handling system that deals with insulated shippers of medicinal products in a temperature controlled facility. The new handling system is due to installed for a number of customers by a team of contract engineers from a local outsource provider.
Fisher Clinical Services provides a range of packaging and distribution services for products used in clinical trials. The new system supports the picking, packaging and dispatching of a range of investigational medicinal products. The new system will be sucessfully installed by the mechanical engineers who carry between them over 20 years experience in this line of work.
It consists of seven stations where orders are inspected and manually packed before being transported out of the temperature-controlled facility to an ambient temperature warehouse for dispatch. It has been installed by the mechanical engineers so as to be able to increase the number of work stations to nine should it be needed.
CSL designed a bespoke roller conveyer mounted on special feet so it could be operated at a height of 30cm off the ground.
'The system has been a success and has proved to be totally reliable in operation and efficient by significantly increasing our orders being shipped,' a spokesperson said.
Derbyshire-based CSL produces a range of conveying equipment that can be interfaced with other packaging and labelling machinery, wrappers and palletisers. All the above machinery can be installed quickly and efficiently by contract engineers who are often there to also oversee any pro/re active maintenance needs
