published on 02/10/09 British Polythene Industries (BPI) is investing £7m in its bpi.industrial production plant at Ardeer, Ayrshire to fund the construction of two extrusion halls housing several film production lines. BPI have called on the services of an engineering outsource provider who specialises in re location and installation and also carry a team of skilled mechanical engineers to oversee the expansion project.
The lines will be dismantled by the mechanical engineers and then re located from BPI's Stockton site to the Scottish site where they will be assembled by the same team of contract mechanical engineers , the same mechanical engineers will also install a new wide-width film line in the halls, which will produce a variety of products in a range of thicknesses and formats. The engineers’ will offer engineering support in lieu of anu maintenance requirements.
The expansion project, which will take 12 months, will create 40 jobs in an area of Scotland that has recently experienced widespread business closures and redundancies
BPI, which supplies clients with wide-width polythene films for industrial, horticultural and agricultural applications, has already invested nearly £5m in a new warehouse and back-seam conversion line used to produce packaging for sectors including the cement industry.
