published on 26/10/09 Pharmaceutical packaging firm Firstan has ordered three die-cutters and a folder gluer from Bobst for its new Huntingdonshire plant, due to open in January. These will be installed by a team of mechanical contract engineeers from a lancashire based engineering outsource provider.
Firstan has invested in three Bobst 106 LE Visioncut die-cutters, in size 3b, and an 110 CS Expertfold gluer for the 7,482m² facility.
The Visioncuts will feature Quick Change technology from Bobst, while the Expertfold runs at 450 metres a minute and has a Bobst blank aligner to assist fast set-up.
The new machines will replace existing equipment.
'The new plant will give us more space, a better workflow, and improved facilities for our staff,' said Firstan production director Paul Hartwig.
'At the same time we are going to take the opportunity to increase the throughput in both cut and crease, and in folding and gluing.'
