published on 30/07/10 A group of highly skilled mechanical engineers from a local engineering outsource provider who between them have over 20 years experience have sucessfully installed the £1m Onyx Central Impression (CI) flexopress from Italian manufacturer Uteco in April.
It is the company’s second eight-colour Onyx press from Uteco and it is hoping that the machine will help it to cater for growing demand. The company, which has 55 staff, is one of the UK’s leading producers of film for polybagging magazines and also produces flexible polythene and PET packaging for products such as bird food and biscuits.
The press was installed in April by a group of contract engineers and is capable of printing 800mm repeat, with a print width of up to 1200mm. It can take reels up to 800mm diameter and has an automatic air recirculation system.
The new press is now fully online, and is one of the most modern and sophisticated flexopresses operating anywhere in Europe.
The installation follows another recent addition to the company’s equipment line-up. At the end of last year it bought a Hudson Sharpe bag-making machine, which converts polythene film from a reel into a self-seal envelope, which was installed by the same group of contract engineers causing minimal distruption
