published on 09/08/10 A team of contract engineers from a local outsource provider have installed a thermal transfer printer from Open Date Equipment to apply best-before dates to confectionery.
Waterfield's has 47 outlets in the North West as well as a wholesale business and intalled the Open Date Thermocode 53CR printer to meet the irregular nature of its coding needs.
Thermocode is fitted to an Ilapak Panda flowwrapper and adds best-before dates to a range of products including flapjacks and Bakewell tarts.
Systems manager Wendy Parr said: 'Sometimes we are only packing our confectionery products for three days a week. The thermal printer can be switched on randomly and will start without any major resetting or maintenance.'
The Thermocode Series 2 is designed to fit to continuously-fed products such as flow-wrapping lines and are available in 53mm and 107mm widths in both left- and right-handed versions. It can be operated locally or added to an Ethernet network for remote control.
