Mister Blister to launch Food Division After £250K Kit Spend

published on 18/08/10
Blister pack manufacturer Mister Blister has invested £250,000 in new equipment as it gears up to make further inroads in the food sector.
The Manchester company has turned to a local engineering outsource provider for a team of skilled machincal engineers to install a Illig RD 53C machine that, according to managing director Gary Briscoe, improves cycle speeds by up to 50%.
Briscoe told Packaging News: 'It is far more efficient and replaces old kit. We have also spent £50,000 on the factory with a new extraction unit alongside a new compressor unit.'
The investment comes as Mister Blister prepares to formerly unveil a new division for its work in the food market. Caterline will be launched on 1 September with a new website of its own.
'It’s an area that's grown quite quickly,' said Briscoe. 'Our Virtuweld technology [tamper resistant packaging] has expanded to salad bowls, sandwich wedges and tortilla packs.'
He explained that the company has a broad range of customers throughout Europe, which gives it more control over the design and manufacture of the products.
The Caterline brand has also linked up with the Royal Machester Children’s Hospital Charity. The charity’s logo will be promoted on Caterline’s website and lorries. On each box of products sold, 5p will go to the charity.
