Cost Reductions through Preventative Maintenance

Wear and tear are continuous during the life of machinery and preventive maintenance that fixes issues before they cause problems saves companies money long term.

Regular preventive maintenance enables equipment to sustain higher performance over longer periods of time. Early detection of faults, wear and tear can be actioned and where necessary replacement parts fitted to avoid unplanned downtime.

Unforeseen problems lead to unscheduled downtime that costs time and money. The sourcing of spare parts and service work cost increase as the repairs invariably go into overtime and run up extra carriage charges to get things done as quickly as possible.

We find that there are three areas of preventive maintenance.

Pre-planned maintenance according to recommendations based on the supplier’s installed schedules.
Computerised software to monitor maintenance activities, by allowing the positive changes of services, it enhances production availability and reduces overall maintenance costs.
Condition monitoring identifies business critical equipment, to provide the early warning notifications of major machine faults. Condition monitoring maintenance data is logged manually or automatically by the engineering team on a continuous basis.

A packaging engineering solutions provider is able to provide engineering support services including OEE, project managed installations, and service engineers that can augment existing engineering provision. The team have over twenty five years within the packaging industry providing conveying, conveyor modifications, end of line packaging machinery and accumulation.
