A company which handles the storage, ripening, packing and distribution of fruit and vegetables to major supermarkets has invested in a new tray sealer to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
A multi axis robotic motion ensures a continuous flow of trays through the machine from infeed to the outfeed eliminating any need for pauses or buffering allowing the throughput of up to 150 packs per minute.
The seal force has been increased by 300% compared to pneumatic systems however the sealers novel technology allows the tool lift mechanism to be deactivated during the seal process therefore significantly reducing the energy usage.
The sites production manager, said: The sealer manufacturer has really thought outside the box with this system, and it ticks all the boxes, it’s flexible with a small footprint and we’ve had no downtime to date. The continuous flow of product allows us to run more effectively, the simple loading and unloading of tooling and films is very quick, reducing further downtime. The hygienic nature and access design of the machine helps us with the clean downs and simple operator maintenance.
A local packaging engineering solutions provider is able to project manage the installation of such machinery utilizing its experienced installation engineers. The team is able to provide new conveyor, conveyor modifications to production lines to incorporate the new technological machinery, OEE, line maintenance, and project managed works. The engineers have been providing blue chip companies for over twenty five years with these services, and can augment and existing engineering department for a short term project or handle the whole project from conception to implementation. They have formed unique alliances with key equipment manufacturers to provide end of line equipment to its clients which are at the forefront of cutting edge technologies within their fields of expertise.
